Happiness & Albino Stuff

Bragging rights.....I never got a harvest horse, I never got a Valentines horse, I never even got a zodiac eye. But this....THIS definitely makes up for it!

Whoo - short for WHOOHOOOOOO!!!! - was born on April 14, 2011. He is a three traited Albino with multi silver/violet eyes, and yes he is a boy. Of course I couldn't contain myself...I know the multi silver/violet are a thing of the past but I didn't care. Even when people tried to throw a wet rag on my happiness I didn't let them. Because I knew the minute he was born my entire line of sibs went golden! Here's a fun fact for you..Albinos run in families! And sure enough, I was right because 24 hours later, on the day of my real life birthday....

Queen was born. Not only was I unable to contain myself, I all but fell out of my chair. Why? Because she...yes a girl...is a four traited Cirque eyed albino!!!! There are maybe THREE in existence??? And queen stems back to the very first pair of siblings that I bred. Just like Whoo.

Whoo is fourth gen and Queen is third. And they all stem back to the non related matriarchs of my longest sib line, "Cassanova & Peaches and Cream of Ovid Creek."

Cass and Peaches gave me a boy one day, and I decided it was this boy "Nuttinbutter of Ovid Creek" that would be the first sib in my awesome line. Their next baby was a girl, "Missy Prissy of Ovid Creek." Together they gave me my very first Black Walker at a time when Black Walkers were the most sought after color in the Walker breed. I kept that boy and I'm so glad I did.

Cass, Peaches, Nuttin', Missy, Prince and Mistress have all retired and are enjoying life in horsey haven, but I am so happy I stuck with sib breeding and didn't quit. Today I have over 45 pairs of siblings, and half of them can be traced right back to my very first sibling pair. It took me six months, and it was worth the journey.

Now that I am a very proud Albino momma, let me share some tips and answer those questions I know everyone has about how to get an albino. Some of these you know, others you may not, either way perserverence is the key!!

1. Albinos come from full siblings only!!

2. I believe having palominos in your line increases your chances of having an albino.

3. Albino eyes are random. Particular eye colors in a line doesn't determine the eyes of your albino.

4. Your sibs DO NOT have to be dedicated pairs!! If one jumps the fence and impregnates another girl, or your girl gets preggers by a non sib, they can still produce albinos. Albinos come from brother/sister. So as long as you breed brother/sister you have a chance at an albino. Mishaps don't mess with the program!

5. Albino projects work!! Both my albinos were born from a mare in a trio sib set.

So there you have it! Good luck breeding for your albino, and please...don't give up because you don't get on right away perserverance pays off!

On an unrelated note, I really wanted an aries Zodiac eye for my birthday since it's my sign and know we were coming to the end of the line for the aries eye, I broke down and bought one. 15K for a black buck bundle with aries diamond eyes and guess what...

It's a boy!! Happy berfday to meh!!!
