Club Infinity

One day I wandered into Club Infinity to use the SLX machine, and in it's place was a rental space. I looked around and found that the entire club made a total transformation into a broken down building with ratty sofas, trash cans with fire in them, and lots of graffiti. It looks awesome! My friend Karl and his girl Tri were dancing in there and we got to talking. Myself along with Blade, spent the entire evening in voice conference with them, hanging out and having a great time. And that marked the beginning of my involvement back at the CI family. Snap is still the owner, but has taken partners, Gaidion Priestman and Karl Wopat, and they have completely turned the club into an awesome place. It wasn't long after that Blade was hired to be the clubs manager. And now, after several months, I have come out of retirement to dj at the club - only as a backup mind you, I get so busy with the day to day operations of my studio, coupled with my work on my new skins, and Blades businesses - I don't want to load myself down with a committed shift. But its going to be fun, to fire up the old broadcaster and get back on the air again. I'm covering a shift on Wednesday and I'm so looking forward to it!! And Blade has certainly jumped into his responsibilites with both feet.

There are new faces there, faces every day - and I reunited with some old friends and acquaintences - Silver Garfield, Tri Destiny, Cheyenne Legend, Kevin Nordict, Snaptick Laxness, TC Short, Gaidion Priestman......it feels pretty good - coming home. :-)

So if you find a night where you have nothing to do, come on down to Club Infinity and hang out with us, it's a guaranteed great time!!

Lavoxy Uriza - Second Life

I met Lavoxy while dj'ing at a club called Genesis. She was a dj there as well, who eventually became part owner of the business. She was a kick ass dj, and music surrounded her real life as well. When I left that club, I lost touch with the wonderful group of ladies who tried to pick up the pieces and make that club work when the previous manager left, but we all have paths that we chose and ours just went in a different directions. I found out last night that Lavoxy had a brother serving in Iraq that was killed, and the pain for her was too much to bear. She ended her own life as a result. This is the second time I have experienced a loss like this in game, and the feeling of helplessness is greater than if you crossed paths with that person in real life, because the degree of how much you know someone isn't as great as you would if they were sitting right in front of you. My friends and I have exchanged numbers and such and have told our families who to contact if something like this happened to any of us, because the simple reality of it is that most of the time, our friends in game are not crossing that line into our real life....they know us and we know them, but that never goes beyond ourselves into our family life. And when things like this happen, it's always a reality check in this virtual world, that there are people with feelings behind the avatars, and real life is never far from them.

My relationship with Lavoxy was strictly business, but she was my contact - she was on my friends list. Our paths crossed, and I am very sad for the loss of this beautiful person. My heartfelt sympathies go out to her family, and I pray that God gives them strength during this very difficult time.

Godspeed Lavoxy, may you finally find the peace that you have been searching for.

Svarga

So Blade and I visited a sim named Svarga. It was phenominal! On Svarga, they are running a beta test to produce artifical life there. Below is a better explanation, taken from the notecard you receive when you get there:

Nearly all of the plant-life in this area of the sim is part of a beta test for a fully functional artificial ecology system for Second Life.
Everything is actually growing and replicating by itself!
------Sometimes you might come here and see nothing ! This could be because I'm testing the system and maybe it's been re-started. Come back in a few hours if that is the case.------
The system comprises...
- Clouds: Scripted clouds roam the sim and occasionally rain onto the ground below. The plant-life underneath soaks up water from the cloud, the amount is determined by angle and distance.
-SunThe SL sun provides energy for growth, it's measured by its position and the amount of SL cloud density.
- Bees.Little tiny scripted bees fly between fertile flowersDj Barracuda: Nearly all of the plant-life in this area of the sim is part of a beta test for a fully functional artificial ecology system for Second Life.

Its a cool place to visit, I had a blast. My friend Misty and her guy Tux joined us as well, and we played drums and chatted in an area where your conversation is turned into music.

There is an oracle there that will tell you your future. You pay $25L and you get a notecard, maybe two. This is what mine said:

"InfluenceOffering fortunate.Persevere.Marriage is fortunate." *smiles*

It's a very nice place to visit, you defintely don't want to miss this in your SL travels!!

Insight Eyes

Insight Eyes is my favorite store to shop at for eyes. I know some don't put much expense into eyes, since the only time one sees them is in photographs or up close, I however take my eyes as seriously as I do my skin, hair and clothing.

I made a purchase yesterday at Insight, as a matter of fact I made two, and the transaction cleared but I never received my product. So I sent a notecard to Carina Larsen letting her know what happened. Today, not only did she send me the eyes I wanted, but she sent me, free of charge a pair of beautiful "bluegreen" eyes that she likes that are not for sale. I thought that was very sweet of her to do. I absolutely LOVE those bluegreen eyes and am very happy that she sent them to me. The bluegreen eyes are pictured on the right. The ones on the left are called "Aquarium" and it's an actual aquarium scene. But you can't tell when you wear the eyes. My eyes however do change color every time they move, which I think rocks. She has several like this, Forest, Dream, Fish, Foggy.....so stop by her store and have a look.

She also has other eyes, natural, undead, evil, fantasy, anime, cartoon, glamour.....definitely worth a visit.

The Closet

Yes, the picture shown is my closet, the most used room in the house. It's actually two photos, showing you either side of the room, so you can see both sides. I got this idea from a friend of mine, who started storing her purchases in one room. I expanded that idea to include storing my clothing in vendors. So it's a bit inconvenient to have to box up an outfit, but really, it takes like 30 seconds to box it, label it, and throw it into the vendor. And now, when I want to wear something, I can flip through the pictures and see what I want to wear before I pull it out. Why do I do this? Because I am sick and tired of losing parts to very expensive outfits I have bought that sit in my inventory. The only downside is that you can't do those on the spot changing of the outfits when you are out but it's a small price to pay to preserve my investments. I'm not sure if I'm going to move hair, jewelry and shoes into storage or not, right now I'm still getting through the clothes. If any one is interested in this concept let me know, I'll let you know where I got the vendors, which are copiable by the way so you only need to purchase one. *smiles*

Out With The Old....In With The New?

Archange Couture is the new store on the Dazzle sim which once housed the famous Last Call shop with creator Ginny Talamasca behind the clothing design. We received notices that Ginny was retiring from SL, and heard the rumors that the fashion designer with a skillfull eye had passed away in real life.

On March 31st Last Call closed it's doors one final time, but not before a massive $100 sale, which I spent WAY to much money at. The Dazzle sim was moved to the middle of nowhere, and eventually notices went out announcing a new shop Archange Couture," which now has designs on the same walls Last Call once inhabited.

I found the quality to be impressive, they have that Last Call feel to them, but most of the styles are a bit lacking to my taste. Katterina Dagostino and Danner Dosei have that same flair for quality that Ginny had, and I predict that they will only get better at it as time goes on.

So for now, I'll keep this one out of my LM hud and tuck it away at home in my dresser, because it's definitely worth a revisit down the road. If you like a casual style, Archange is definitely a place you should check out.

Outfits bought: "Martine"

Other shops on sim: Insolence, Muse, Cherished.

An Introduction.

How gracious of a fellow blogger to have advertised this site on his dreaded page for the viewers of second life to see? I am a blogger freak and was impressed with the layout of this site, so I too will join the ranks of many who blog here.

That being said, an introduction is in order. I am Dj Barracuda, and I live in the world of Second Life. In this world I am a photographer, a shop owner, a builder and a dj. I have a twin brother, a partner, and lots of friends that are as close to me as my family.

Why am I here? Who knows, perhaps the pages of this blog will eventually answer that for me. I may brag, rant, bitch, gripe, comment, or judge. Regardless, it's is by my hand that these will take shape, it is by my mind that they will be created, and there is no limit to what I will produce as time passes. If you're interested read on, if not that's okay too, this is more for me than anything else, but perhaps a line or two will enlighten you. So jump in, check your seat belt, and hold on because you're in for one hell of a ride. *smiles*
